Uganda Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Uganda Seal 2026 Partnerships with Tooke, Blacklyf and The Hive
By Denise Namale
In a bold step toward strengthening athlete support and modernising sports administration, the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) and Commonwealth Games Uganda (CGU) have signed strategic partnerships with Tooke, Blacklyf and The Hive in 2026.
The agreements, unveiled during the recently concluded AGM and Awards Dinner at Mestil Hotel signalled a new era of collaboration between Uganda’s top sports governing bodies and the private sector.
Tooke: Fuelling the Dream of Every Young Athlete
The partnership with Tooke is rooted in a shared belief that every winning athlete in Uganda deserves access to affordable and nutritious food.
Dr. Rukare (President UOC/CGU) emphasized that proper nutrition is fundamental to athlete development, noting that many talented young Ugandans fall short of their potential due to limited access to balanced diets. Through this partnership, Tooke will support initiatives aimed at promoting affordable nutrition, especially for young and upcoming athletes.
Speaking at the signing, Rev. Prof. Florence Isabirye Muranga CEO of TOOKE highlighted the importance of innovation and collaboration in building a system where athletes can grow into elite sportsmen and women. The message was clear: success in sport begins long before the podium it starts at the table.
Blacklyf: Official Lifestyle Tech Partner
In a two-year agreement, Blacklyf has come on board as the official lifestyle tech partner of UOC and CGU.
The partnership will see Blacklyf support athletes with lifestyle technology products, including smart wearables and audio devices designed to compliment training, performance and mental preparation. From time management tools for runners to music devices that help athletes psych up before competition, the brand aims to integrate lifestyle and sport seamlessly.
Beyond product support, Blacklyf will contribute 5 percent of proceeds from selected product sales toward athlete development programmes. The company will also be present at UOC and CGU activities, aligning its brand with national sports events and activations.
Dr. Rukare (President UOC/CGU) welcomed the partnership, noting that excellence is a core value of the organisation and that working with brands recognised for quality strengthens the sports ecosystem. Mourice Aliganyira from Blacklyf representatives described the agreement as a major milestone, citing strong synergy between the company’s vision and Uganda’s sporting ambitions.
The Hive: Driving the Digital Revolution
Recognising the growing importance of digital transformation in sports, UOC and CGU also formalised their partnership with The Hive as their digital and media partner.
The Hive will support live event streaming, digital content production, branding, event management solutions and staff training. The company will also help the organisations transition toward paperless operations and enhance real-time photography and online engagement.
“Today, sport is not only played in stadiums and arenas — it must live online,” a Hive representative noted, underscoring the importance of telling athletes’ stories in the digital age
Dr. Rukare (President UOC/CGU) expressed confidence that the partnership would strengthen engagement with athletes, federations, stakeholders and global audiences, describing the collaboration as a perfect fit for their long-term digital vision
A New Chapter for Ugandan Sport
The triple partnership reflects a deliberate strategy by UOC and CGU to build a holistic sports support system one that addresses nutrition, technology, branding, digital visibility and financial sustainability.
As Uganda continues to shine on the regional and international stages, these partnerships are expected to provide the structural backing necessary to nurture talent from grassroots to elite level.
