FIFA U -17 World Cup: Uganda Cubs ready to write history in group K opener against Canada

It will be history in the making when the Uganda National U-17 football team (Cubs) face Canada in group K at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
This will be the first ever football team from Uganda to play at any FIFA World Cup tournament.
Against Canada, Uganda Cubs come to this contest having played in a preparatory tournament, the U-17 Dubai Youth Challenge Cup at the Al Hamriya Cultural and Sports Club.
Uganda Cubs shared the spoils with Venezuela 1-all in the opener before falling to Panama (1-2) and Paraguay (2-3) in the subsequent duels.
Under head coach Brian Ssenyondo who works with a formidable technical team, Uganda Cubs is ready to kick off positively.


“The team is more than ready” Ssenyondo testifies. “The build up matches helped us a great deal to work out the different partnerships and formations. The players are mentally and physically ready” Ssenyondo adds.
Several key players on the team as lethal forward James Bogere, crafty midfielder Isima Magala, the industrious skipper Richard Okello, Abubakali Walusimbi, Simon Wanyama, goalkeeper Adrian Mukwanga, John Asiimwe and others are expected to produce their A-Game.
Uganda is in group K with Canada, Chile and France.
