” Above all, remember to have fun”- Chief De Mission – Ms. Harriet Ayaa
The National Council of Sports and the Uganda Olympic Committee have officially flagged off a delegation of 13 athletes and team officials set to represent Uganda at the 4th ANOCA African Youth Games in Luanda, Angola, scheduled for 10th–20th December 2025.
While addressing the team, the Chief de Mission, Ms. Harriet Ayaa, reminded the athletes that they carry the national flag with them in everything they do. She emphasized that their conduct on and off the field has the power to elevate or undermine the image of Uganda, urging them to uphold discipline and represent the country with pride. She concluded by encouraging the team to enjoy the experience, saying, “Most importantly, remember to have fun.”
The African Youth Games, organized by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), will host athletes aged approximately 14–17 from about 54 African nations competing in 33 sport disciplines. The event aims to promote sports development, identify emerging talent, and strengthen cultural exchange across the continent. The Games will also double as a qualifying pathway for the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games.
For the 2025 edition in Angola, competition venues and athlete accommodation will be spread across multiple host cities to maximize national engagement. These include Luanda, Bengo, Benguela, Lubango, Huambo, Mocamedes and Caxito.
Uganda will compete in five disciplines: swimming, athletics, break dance, table tennis and 3×3 basketball.
