Namuwongo Blazers End City Oiler's Dominance

A stellar performance from Tony Drileba, James Okello and Jimmy Enabu that yielded 10,16 and 12 points has propelled Namuwongo Blazers to its first ever national basketball league title.
This was after a 68-55 victory over ten-time winners City Oilers at the MTN Arena, Lugogo completed a 4-2 series win.
The Namuwongo Blazers that at some stage trailed 0-2, thus became the first team to recover against the City Oilers.
On top of the excellent displays by former Oilers’ Drileba, Okello and Enabu, the Blazers game six victory was enabled by a thorough team display that climaxed with Peter Obleng on 11 points, Joel Lukoji stopped at 5,Anthony Chukwubuka scored 8 while off the bench Arthur Wanyoto had six.
In the individual awards, RezLife basketball club won the fairplay award, Fayed Baale was best three point shooter and top scorer, Jospeh Chuma was best rebounder while Joel Kayiira was the best defensive player.
The most valuable player was Joel Lukoji with 183 points,49 steals and 70 assists.
The season’s top five was made up of Joel Lukoji, Baale Fayed, Edgar Munaaba, Nyembo Fataki and Joel Kayiira.
