Athletics misses Gold medal for the first time in 20 years at the CWG.

Kenneth Kiprop ran a brave race but narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing 5th in the Men’s 5000m final.
In a frantic race that saw a dozen athletes still together at the bell, Kiprop stayed in contention all the way. He clocked 13:25.70, just behind the medallists.
Kenya’s Matthew Kipsang took gold in 13:23.51, followed by Australia’s Ky Robinson in 13:24.70 and India’s Gulveer Singh in 13:24.95.
Uganda’s other entry Daniel Kibet finished 12th in 13:33.93, while Oscar Chelimo did not start.
With this result, Uganda’s track and field campaign ends with Peruth Chemutai’s 3000m Steeplechase Bronze as the sole medal, following near misses from Samuel Simba Cherop in the Men’s 10,000m and Esther Chebet in the Women’s 10,000m and 5,000m.
It’s also the first time in 20 years dating back since the 2006 Games in Melbourne that Uganda has failed to win a team Gold with all of them in that time being from athletics, and with all but two during that time from the 5000m and 10000m distance including a rare Stella Chesang 10k triumph at the 2018 Games.
