Talikaza takes world number one to the wire.

For the first time in two years, Uganda’s number one lady Judoka Zubeda Talikaza entered a contest on an international mat, this time against Canadian Charlie Thibault in a in a -70kgs contest at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The contest/Shai is a four-minute match where if none of the Judokas scores better than the other, there is a golden score timeless continuation which can go on until the first point is scored.
Zubeda lost the match with a half point which is called a wazari to the international judo federation to the World number 1 in juniors and 71 position in senior world rankings under -70kg women weight category
“It’s so painful is all I can tell you,” Talikaza said. “Two years wthout an international mat and you come up against a player of her calibre, whom you take to the edge. It deserves to end in victory, but it didn’t. I feel bad,” the Ugandan added, close to tears.
Uganda’s push in the Judo at these Games ends today, with Charles Mwangushya contesting in the -100 kilogram category against French-based Gambian Abdourahman Ceesay.
