Swimming falls short again as Husnah Kukundakwe enters the fray

Uganda’s pursuit of a podium finish in swimming at the 2026 Commonwealth Games is still on hold following another day of close calls that weren’t good enough to see the dream become reality.
The closest Uganda came was Gloria Muzito’s 100m freestyle semi final in which she finished 16th with a time of 55.88.
The other cast in the pool on the day had Jordan Samula finish 40th in the 50m breaststroke; Tara Naluwooza was 100th in the 100m freestyle while Tendo Mukalazi was 36th in the 50m breaststroke.
The hunt continues today with Tara Naluwooza in the 50m backstroke,Kirabo Namutebi in the 50m breaststroke,Tendo Kaumi and Tendo Mukalazi in the 100m freestyle while para-swimmer Husnah Kukundakwe makes her first appearance in the SB8 100m breaststroke.
