JKL Dolphins win fifth title as Namuwongo Blazers take control

JK Lady Dolphins has added another national basketball league title after pipping JT Lady Jaguars 69-68 in game five to seal a 4-1 final series victory at a packed MTN Arena,Lugogo.
In a classic basketball game,both teams were level 34-all at half time,with the Lady Dolphins edging clear by the end of the third quarter for a ten point lead,55-45.
In the final quarter,JT Lady Jaguars intensified its pursuit and clawed back into the game but they narrowly lost by one ‘bucket’ 69-68 sparking scenes of joy in the Dolphins camp.
In the best of seven finals series,JT Lady Jaguars took an early lead but have now lost four-on-the-trot to a Hope Akello inspired Dolphins that has now won the title five times.

With the Women’s series now over, attention turns to the men’s final which has swung into Namuwongo Blazers favor after an energy sapping 71-68 fifth game victory that completed the come from behind (0-2) 3-2 series lead.
Old Boy James Okello was Oilers’ biggest threat scoring a game high 17 points with his former teammate at Oilers Tony Drileba managing six points and Peter Obleng seven, while the duo of Joel Lukoji and Anthony Chukwubuka who completed the starting five managed ten each.
Off the bench,another Oilers duo of old boys Jimmy Enabu and Ivan Muhwezi scored a combined 13 points while Arthur Wanyoto and Innocent off the bench scored five and three respectively.
Game six awaits with Blazers looking to seal a first ever NBL title while City Oilers fight to send the series into a decider “that many anticipate”.
