The 2025 edition of the Mountain Dew UG 3×3 Basketball Series has officially been launched, promising bigger cash prizes and greater competition across Uganda.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, Mountain Dew and Red Rhino Sports, in association with the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA), have announced the return of the nationwide 3×3 basketball series — with four regional stops and a grand finale in Kampala.

This year’s edition will feature tournaments in Mukono, Mbarara, Kampala, and Gulu, before the final showdown in Kampala in December.
Each stop will have 2m/- in prize money.
The winning men’s and women’s teams will each earn 500,000/- and automatic qualification for the finals, while runners-up will walk away with 200,000/-
At the grand finale, the champions in both categories will pocket 2m/- each, and the runners-up will take home 1m/-
Mountain Dew Brand Manager Grace Namutebi expressed excitement about the brand’s continued partnership with the tournament.

“Mountain Dew is an urban, hip brand that has been associated with basketball for a long time,” she said. “We’re thrilled to be part of this year’s 3×3 series which will bring basketball closer to the grassroots.”

Red Rhino Sports Director, Samuel Akwech, noted that the tournament offers a platform for young players to grow and showcase their talent.

“The UG 3×3 series is all about development, entertainment, and opportunity. We thank Mountain Dew for making it possible again this year,” Akwech said.

FUBA CEO Marcus Kwikiriza applauded the initiative, saying it complements efforts to expand 3×3 basketball in Uganda and possibly secure Olympic qualification in the future.

Participation in the Mountain Dew UG 3×3 Series is open to all basketball players under 25 years.
Teams must consist of four players, with at least two Ugandan nationals and no more than two national basketball league players.

Last year’s series were won by St.Noa Girls and Cole World team bettered all men.
