Uganda basketball 3×3 women’s team in inching its way into folklore after completing its group A engagements at the 2026 Commonwealth Games with four victories and just one defeat.
Going into the final day of its group games, the team had beaten Jamaica, Cayman Islands and Kenya, onto which they added the scalp of Fiji before falling 21-08 to Australia.
“I am impressed by what the team has displayed,but now isn’t time to rest on our laurels” said head Coach Nick Natuhereza.
“Now we see light at the end of the tunnel and that’s where we want to reach” he added
The team now waits for climax of group B engagements to know which team they will face in a semi final play-in on Tuesday.
“I think it will be either Scotland or Tonga” Coach Natuhereza revealed before adding that “the issue now is about being ready for whichever team comes because to be the best, you have to beat all before you”. 
“Any good result here is a plus for us as we eye Los Angeles 2028 Olympics qualification” he climaxed.
The rules of engagement at the commonwealth games basketball 3×3 are that the teams that top the two groups enter direct into the semi final, while second and third in both groups play each other for the final two semi final slots.
