All Is Set For The 10th Edition Of The Korean Ambassador's Cup

The long-awaited 10th edition of Korean Ambassador’s cup will be back this November from 8th- 9th November at Lugogo indoor stadium.
The Korean Ambassador’s Cup is an annual taekwondo competition hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Uganda and is the most loved and attended by taekwondo players.
Over 400 participants are expected to take part in this year’s edition with some from neighboring countries like Kenya, DRC Congo and Rwanda and the President of the Uganda Olympic Committee Dr Donald Rukare will be expected as the Guest of Honor.
Some of the clubs that have already confirmed participation in this year’s edition include Awoja Soroti taekwondo club, Best choice world taekwondo, CSCA taekwondo club, Kenya lions gate, Tiger Hood, Tororo taekwondo club , Rwanda Kiziba refugee team, Police taekwondo club, Prison taekwondo club, Makerere university, Ndejje University and many more
For years, Kenya has been attending these championships and last year, Kenya brought in six teams : Ragumo, Kisumu, Maseno University, Swift Kicks, ICY Kenya and Madera.
Rwanda will be making its return in these championships after many years of not taking part with over 30 taekwondo players expected. The Rwandan contingent will have a refugee team that will be showcasing their talents.
Kyorugi (Sparring) and Poomsae are patterns to be played this year with the Introduction of the Electronic Scoring System for Kyorugi matches for effective competitions.
K-POP Festival
Besides Taekwondo, there will be a one-day K-POP Festival that will be held on 8th of November 2025 at Makerere University main hall building.
Four teams will be competing in Singing while 9 teams will participate in dancing on the Final Round of the K-POP Festival
Korean cultural experience booths (including calligraphy) and a Korean photo exhibition, as well as a Taekwondo demonstration by the UPDF Taekwondo Team will also be on the same menu where the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Makerere University is expected to be the guest of honor
LAST YEAR’S EDITION
A total of 250 athletes from 25 clubs in Uganda and Kenya took part in the 9th edition of the Korean Ambassador’s cup that was sponsored by the Embassy of Korea in Uganda.
These included 131 senior men, 33 senior female, 65 junior boys and 21 junior girls.
Uganda’s 19 clubs included the champions Uganda Police, Uganda Prisons, CSCA, Caltel, Lee, Red Scorpion, Nwoya, Ndejje University, MUTC-UPDF, Kampala, Tiger hoods, Gulu University, Friends, IYF, Makerere University, Mbale, Spirit Combat and Jinja.
Kenya’s teams included Ragumo, Kisumu, Maseno University, Swift Kicks, ICY Kenya and Madera.
2024 Korea Ambassador’s Cup winners
Overall winners: Uganda Police Taekwondo Club (10 Gold, 5 Silver, 9 Bronze)
2nd: Uganda Prisons Taekwondo Club (6 Gold, 2 Silver, 4 Bronze)
3rd: Regional Kenya Taekwondo Club (4 Gold, 6 Silver, 4 Bronze)
4th: Ragumo Kenya Taekwondo Club (2 Gold)
The overall champion club for each year since 2017
Children’s Sports Charity Academy (CSCA) and Uganda Police Taekwondo Club are two clubs that have won these championships twice with Uganda Police Taekwondo Club being the only club that has won these championships back-to-back (2023 and 2025)

2020-2022: The competition was held virtually due to COVID-19 disruptions, without a physical overall club winner announced in the same format as in-person events.
