The recently concluded 2nd ANOC Digital Communications Seminar in Varese, Italy, brought together 38 National Olympic Committees and 54 representatives for two days of learning, knowledge sharing and collaboration on the future of sports and Olympic communications.
Under the theme “Road to Dakar: Communicate. Engage. Inspire,” the seminar explored some of the most important issues shaping modern sports communications, including Artificial Intelligence, athlete storytelling, fan engagement, reaching younger audiences, crisis communications, measuring digital impact and building stronger digital ecosystems.
For African NOCs, these conversations are particularly important. As the continent prepares for Dakar 2026, there is a significant opportunity for NOCs to learn from one another, share resources and experiences, amplify African athlete stories and develop innovative approaches to engaging new generations of Olympic fans.
The seminar reinforced an important message: collaboration is key to strengthening NOC communications. While every NOC operates within its own context, many of the challenges and opportunities are shared. By working together, African NOCs can build stronger communication networks, exchange knowledge and best practices, support one another and collectively tell the African Olympic story with greater reach and impact.
For NOC Uganda, participation in the seminar provides valuable insights and practical ideas that can be applied to strengthen our digital communications, enhance athlete-centred storytelling, engage new audiences and make better use of technology and data.
As we look towards Dakar 2026 and beyond, NOC Uganda remains committed to learning, collaborating and contributing to a stronger and more connected Olympic communications community across Africa.
