Racheal Nanyonga Is Captain As She Cranes Team Is Named
Netball Uganda has named its final 14 players that will represent Uganda at the upcoming Celtic Cup in Scotland later this month.
“The technical team has named a strong team that we expect to play hard and get into world position six that guarantees us a direct slot at the 2027 Netball World Cup in Brisbane Australia” said Netball Uganda President Jocelyn Ucanda.
Experienced player Rachel Nanyonga has been handed the mantle as team Captain and will be deputized by Lilian Achola.
“I am happy to be put in charge of the team.We have trained hard and expect to perform to expectations” Nanyonga said.
The squad includes Margaret Bagala,Shadiah Nasanga,Mary Nuba,Lilian Ajio,Christine Nakitto and Ayaa Gloria.
Also on the team are Fildauce Namulema,Faridah Kadondi,Shaffie Nalwanja and new kids on the block Shakira Nasaka,Specioza Namukose and Malisera Akello.
“The team is solid.We have some new faces but the good thing is that the team chemistry is at 100%” Coach Ruth Meeme went technical.
At the five day Celtic Cup that starts on 26th November,the She Cranes’ will play against Scotland, Wales Northern Ireland, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
