In the wake of Nuhu Batte’s welterweight victory over Nigerian Abdulwahab Abdulramon which earned him a place in the round of 16 at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, his compatriot Alfred Ojok has followed suit.

Fighting out of the red corner, Ojok was dominant in this light heavyweight contest that he won on unanimous decision (5-0) over Antelea-Lunlu of Niue Islands.

Ojok will return to action on Monday against England’s Dimeju Shittu with a place in the quarterfinals at stake.

As Ojok marches on, Ibrahim Kemis’ journey has been ended by Zambia’s Albert Ngulube who won the lightweight bout 5-0.

Uganda is represented by six pugilists, with Emily Nakalema scheduled to start her journey on Tuesday with a round of 8 engagement against Australia’s Bryson Eve, while Angel Katushabe is yet to know who her quarterfinal opponent will be.
