The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) under the Gender diversity in sport Commission held the national retreat for diversity in sport on the 7th – 9th July, 2017 at Kisubi Seminary Beach.
UOC is committed to creating an inclusive and gender equality sporting community in Uganda. The efforts are only concentrated on empowering women to assume senior leadership positions within the National Olympic Committee (NOC), and the National Federations as emphasized by the ‘White Paper’ on Women empowerment.
It is through this background that the UOC through its Gender and Equality commission organized the 3 day activity which involved First Aid Training by Dr. Christopher Mbowa, Sports activities like Volleyball, Basketball, 5-Aside Soccer, Netball and Tag rugby
Among other activities were Team Building activities, a 5km run, aerobic session, Physiotherapy injury presentation by Ms. Winfred Nabbiraa, Olympic Values by Isima Iga, Sports Nutrition session by Ms. Irene Blick, Blood donation by Uganda Blood bank, First Aid Training by Christopher Mbowa, self defence skills training by Sgt. Maureen Awor and Networking
