UOC held a fitness week compaign in partnership with throw it back

The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) under the Sport for Social Development embarked on yet another fitness week campaign in Mukono on the 19th of January 2018.

This was in partnership with the Throw It Back Foundation, an organization that seeks to raise funds for the underprivileged in society through sport. The activity which targeted the youth mainly had over 1000 young people taking part in different sports activities organized by the UOC. These included Tug of War, 5-Aside football, aerobics, and hockey among others. The major target being inculcating values of healthy living among the young people. We also sought to pass on the true values of sport and also manifest the power of sport as a tool for social inclusion and transformation of societies.

The funds that were raised at this charity event went to the children of Nabugabo Learning Community Centre in Masaka district. The Sport for Social Development also contributed one million shillings towards this noble cause. Scholastic materials and other teaching aid materials will be procured for the students in this community.

 The Uganda Olympic Committee remains committed to forging and fostering partnerships and relations with the different organizations and stakeholders to bring sport at the heart of social economic transformation.
