UOC held a quarterly media conference to discuss its operations amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and the council meeting.
UOC President noted that all athletes who qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games received Shs. 1.5m as aid amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This was aimed at keeping them mentally fit and enable their personal smooth training during this hard time. We also extended help to some of their coaches.
Our aid will also be extended to those who are still preparing for the remaining qualification events and they will soon receive similar packages from us immediately after we receive money from ANOC added Dr. Donald Rukare, the Secretary General, Uganda Olympic Committee. During this period, we have carried out fruitful activities via Online. We celebrated the World Olympic day on the 23rd of June, 2020 and also held an online aerobic session as part of the celebrations. We also held four online zoom meetings with topics that included commercialization of sports, wellness and health in sports and Standard Operating procedures (SoPs) for resumption of sports.
