On December 1st, 2022, Uganda Olympic Committee through its Gender Equality and Diversity (GED) Commission held an effective sports leadership training at their head offices in Lugogo, Kampala.
The training participants were solely female administrators and coaches from the different sports federations and associations.
The UOC Gender Equality and Diversity Commission plays an important role as an advisory body to the UOC Executive on all matters relating to the promotion of women/girls in sports.
The effective sports leadership training was in accordance with GED’s Commission core activity, which is to build the capacity, increase and strengthen women leaders to be positioned in federations and associations and in other spheres.
The trainings’ sole purpose was to have participants empowered to cause gender and inclusive transformational change of attitudes and practices as individuals in their spheres of influence and in their respective federations/associations.
This provides for an opportunity to strengthen the capacity of women and girls to participate in, and benefit from sports with a view of promoting gender equality and inclusion in sports in Uganda.
