
On November 26, 2022, the UOC Athletes’ Commission election was held at the Uganda Olympic Committee offices in Lugogo, Kampala. This was in accordance with Article 19 of the constitution of the Uganda Olympic Committee/Commonwealth Games Association of Uganda.
The electoral process was overseen by the UOC Electoral Committee, which was led by Mr. Moses Mwase, UOC’s 2nd Vice President Technical.
Athletes from UOC member federations were in attendance to vote for the nominated candidates.

Ms. Aisha Kateregga Kagere, Mr. Ali Ngaimoko, Mr. Ganzi Semu Mugula, Mr. Isaac Onek, Ms. Jamila Nsibambi Lunkuse, Ms. Leticia Namutebi, Ms. Racheal Babirye, and Mr. Yakub Aziz are eight of the members who were unopposed, and the other two will be appointed by the UOC Executive Board.
The newly elected athlete representatives will meet as soon as possible to choose a chairperson and secretary for the athlete commission, who will then be sworn in and declared to serve for the period of four years.
According to the UOC/CGAU constitution, for one to be chairperson of the athletes’ commission, he or she must be eighteen years of age or older, must have participated in the last three editions of the Olympic Games, and must not possess any doping violation record.
The outgoing chair of the athletes’ commission, Mr. Ganzi Mugula, emphasized the crucial role that the commission would play in protecting athletes’ rights, ensuring their welfare, and assisting them in preparing for life after competition.
