
On Saturday, June 24th, 2023, Uganda joined the global community in celebrating Olympic Day. The festivities, organized by Uganda Olympic Committee, brought together hundreds of young people from Busia and beyond, uniting them through the joy of physical activity and the promotion of Olympic values.
The Nyangweso OlympAfrica Centre, located in Busia, played host to the Olympic Day celebrations in Uganda. With the theme “Let’s Move,” the event was aimed at inspiring individuals to prioritize daily exercise and embrace a healthier lifestyle.
The theme for this year’s Olympic Day, “Let’s Move,” emphasized the importance of incorporating physical activity into daily lives. The event provided a platform for showcasing a wide range of Olympic sports, encouraging participants to try new activities and find the ones that resonated with them. By fostering a love for movement, Uganda Olympic Committee aimed to create a legacy of improved health and fitness among its population.
Olympic Day held immense importance as it provided an opportunity for people from diverse backgrounds to connect with Olympic athletes, familiarize themselves with various Olympic sports, and cultivate a deeper understanding of the Olympic values of friendship, respect, and excellence.
