The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) has taken yet another step in their efforts to promote sports in the country by organizing the Women’s Sports Administrators Course Program. This program took place at the WEC Center in Lugogo, from the 7th to 9th of March 2023.
The course, which was organized under the auspices of Olympic Solidarity, is an initiative by the UOC to help sport administrators of National federations, and other bodies responsible for the development of sport in their countries to work more efficiently, effectively, and happily within the sport movements.
The Women’s Sports Administrators Course Program was facilitated by eleven experts in the field of sports administration. These facilitators led by Mr. William Blick, an IOC member, Dr. Donald Rukare, the current UOC President, and Mr. Moses Mwase, the Vice President of the UOC. The interactive sessions during the course covered various themes that are critical to the success of sports administration.
A multitude of themes covered over the three-day course were Principles, Structure, and Leadership of the Olympic Movement, The Games, Athletes at the heart of the Olympic Movement, Promoting the Olympic Values and Sport, Managing the Organization, Managing Resources, and Managing Activities.
The Sports Administrators Course has been running in Uganda for some time now, and since its inception, it has seen over 2000 participants involved in sport administration from Uganda and beyond interact with experts in the field of sports administration.
The Women’s Sports Administrators Course Program is an essential initiative that recognizes the importance of women’s participation in sports administration. Women have been underrepresented in sports administration for a long time, and it is imperative to have programs like this to address this issue.
UOC also organize the Advanced Sports Management Course, which explores in detail the key management areas. The Advanced Sports Management Course is an excellent opportunity for sport administrators to gain a more in-depth understanding of sports management.
